An International Advisory Committee has proceeded, from 2010 to 2012, to an independent scientific assessment of the projects proposals submitted to EDGaR. It reviewed detailed project proposals that were submitted by the research groups, along the lines of a standard format.

Evaluation criteria were: the scientific quality of the research; the integration and contribution of the project to the overall program; the potential contribution to energy transition; the probability of realization within the required framework and timeframe; the innovativeness and multidsicplinarity.

Cooperation with at least one other partner was required. When the International Advisory Committee judged a proposal unsuitable, the later was either rejected or revised before a second evaluation took place. Out of the 41 project proposals submitted, 29 have been approved and financed by EDGaR.
