Comprehensive institutional design framework that integrates market design and system design perspectives

A comprehensive institutional design framework that integrates market design and system design perspectives. It allows investigating how changing technical conditions may reshape:

  • the roles and responsibilities of the actors involved in infrastructure operations (with special attention to distribution network operators),
  • the market structure, actor behavior, and energy service business models, and
  • the institutional arrangements required to incentivize a reliable operation of local energy systems that meets socio-economic performance criteria.
