The power-to-gas coupling to biomethane production is an industrial process for the conversion of electricity into substitute natural gas (biomethane). It uses the excess of renewable and intermittent electricity production from sun and wind. The addition of hydrogen results in doubling the methane yields, with limited gas quality fluctuations.
