Sorption-enhanced methane production

A process for the production of substitute natural gas 

Methanation process configuration with three reactors (R1, R2, R3) in series with recycle, intercoolers with water knock-out and drying (S1).

This sorption-enhance methane production use the Sabatier process. It produces renewable substitute natural gas, that is, high-grade methane at operational pressure below 10 bar. It forces the reaction to full conversion through water sorption. It saves up to 40% of compression duty.
